Azimut Benetti’s chief commercial officer, Fabio Ermetto, will leave the group next month to join Camper & Nicholsons International (CNI) in a similar role starting September 1, 2017.

In a statement CNI describes Ermetto's appointment as “another major step forward in the restructuring of Camper & Nicholsons International and implementation of the company’s strategic growth plans.”

Paolo Casani, CEO of CNI, says: "We are very pleased to have Fabio join Camper & Nicholsons. We continue to adapt our business to meet the evolving needs of our clientele and this is allowing us to go from strength-to-strength, including recruitment of the industry's top talent. With Fabio's extensive technical background, diverse experience and professional approach, he is the ideal candidate to reinforce the qualities upon which the Camper & Nicholsons brand has been built."

Ermetto adds: "I am proud and honoured to be joining Camper & Nicholsons. It is a heritage brand that has contributed tremendously to the development of the modern yachting industry and now benefits from the support of incredibly strong international shareholders. I look forward to contributing to the company’s success during this exciting next chapter in its history.”

Ermetto is joining CNI from Azimut Benetti, where he held a number of senior management positions over a nine-year period. These included being Azimut Benetti CCO for the past three years and for two years as chairman and CEO of Fraser Yachts. Before that he worked with Heesen Yachts for seven years as sales & marketing director. He was educated in the Netherlands as a naval architect.

Implementing Camper & Nicholsons’ strategic growth plans follows the corporate restructuring last year which saw Italian superyacht builder Fincantieri increase its stake from 15% to 50% and the Hong Kong-based Lai Sung Development Co Ltd come is as the other 50% shareholder.

A number of changes have followed from this, including the formation of Camper & Nicholsons Asia Holdings which will oversee the expansion of CNI throughout Asia; the opening of a new flagship European office at Port Pierre Canto in Cannes; and the relocation of the group’s head office to the Gildo Pastor Center in Monaco.

Other changes are planned or in progress which Ermetto will now be involved with.
