A series of Asian boat shows and superyacht events across three countries and extending to the end of February started today in Thailand. This includes shows in Pattaya, Phuket, Hong Kong and Sanya in Thailand, Hong Kong and China respectively. The series of events includes five shows and two superyacht rendezvous.

The Pattaya International Boat Show kicks off the series today, from November 23-26, at the 350-berth Ocean Marina. The event draws around 6,000 visitors and, while not a big show, it will include several international brands. Among these will be Beneteau and Monte Carlo Yachts promoted through Simspon Marine, Azimut with local dealer MCC, and Princess Yachts with Boat Lagoon.

This event, which has run for a number of years, is increasingly sharing in the Thai government’s ambitious plans to expand marine tourism.

The 23rd edition of the Hong Kong International Boat Show is next in line, running at Club Marine Cove from December 1-3. This is primarily a local show, but dealers of international brands will be participating and 35 yachts will be exhibited. Among these will be Simpson Marine highlighting its Beneteau, Sanlorenzo and Monte Carlo Yacht brands.

From December 8-11, the eight edition of the China (Hainan) Rendezvous will be held at Visun Marina in Sanya. Not a lot of information is available, but a number of international brands including Ferretti, Bavaria, Beneteau and Sanlorenzo will be exhibiting. Local brands Jetpon and Omnia Marine will also be included.

Thailand accounts for the remainder of this series of events, again highlighting its strategic plans to expand marine tourism throughout the country. All four of the remaining events will be held in Phuket, which is increasingly seen as the yachting hub for South East Asia.

The Kata Rocks Superyacht Rendezvous will be held from December 8-10. The second edition of this event has Feadship as a co-sponsor, with support from several other superyacht players. These include Azimut-Benetti, Burgess, CNI, Northrop & Johnson, Lee Marine, Princess Yachts, Royal Huisman, SEAL Superyachts, Simpson Marine and Sanlorenzo. A new participant this year will be Contest Yachts.

Later in the month, from December 19-21, the Asia Pacific Superyacht Rendezvous will hold its 17th edition. Organised this year by Asia Pacific Superyachts, the event will have nearly 30 yachts from 25m-77m (82ft-253ft) on display.

Moving into 2018, probably the first marine-related event of the year will be the newly branded Phuket Rendezvous which will be held from January 4-7, 2018. This replaces the long-running Phuket International Boat Show (Pimex). The Rendezvous is being marketed as a marine and luxury lifestyle event and it will be held at the Royal Phuket Marina.

The final event in this series is the third edition of the Thailand International Boat Show, which is scheduled to be held at Ao Po Grand Marina from February 22-25, 2018. The show will also include the Thai Yachting Forum to be held on February 21.
