Chinese yacht design firm Granocean has signed a second order for its Pure Power 77-LX luxury catamaran design for a Singaporean owner. This model is part of the Pure Catamaran series being developed by Granocean, with other sizes being the PP55, PP66, PP77LS (luxury Sport version) and a PP100, as well as different versions within the sizes.

The first Pure Power 77-LX was delivered to a Singaporean owner in May last year in a diving support craft configuration. It will operate alongside the new 84m (276ft) trimaran currently being built by Echo Yachts in Henderson, Western Australia. This yacht grouping also includes a 42m (138ft) shadow superyacht that is also being built by Echo.

The new PP77-LX will be delivered next year and is already under construction at the Unishine shipyard in Zhuhai. It will be a 24m (78ft) CE certified custom catamaran with five luxuriously appointed cabins, powered by two Caterpillar C18 engines with a total of 2300hp.

The team responsible for the Pure Catamaran designs includes Vincent Mausset, Granocean’s senior designer; Eric So, who is in charge of the exterior and interior design, and Scott Suen, who oversees the mechanical, electrical engineering systems and overall building of the boats. Mausset has a long-term working relationship with Sparkman & Stephens.

Eric So told IBI during the recent Singapore Yacht Show: “Granocean is currently in negotiations with another owner for a PP77-LS model. Apart from the PP Cat series, Granocean is working with some other naval architects as well, like Howard Apollonio on some other smaller catamaran designs. The company works closely with the shipyard in China, helping the yards to develop new products, like concept rendering and production drawings. The Granocean team also offers on-site project managing services.”
