After a number of years presenting high-specification expedition superyacht concepts, Hawk Yachts now has its first project in build.
Captain Matthias Bosse, executive chairman and one of the founders of Hawk Yachts, told IBI at the Singapore Yacht Show: “We have just started with our first build, which is the 48m (158ft) Cape Hawk 690 model. It is being built by the Tor Group at Tuzla, near Istanbul, and it is being built on spec. We will also announce later this month a 150m (492ft) cruise ship order for a leading hotel group which is based on the Sea Hawk design.”
The Cape Hawk 690 is anticipated to be completed by the end of 2019. The Tor Group is a long-established commercial shipbuilding and repair group, which, some 25 years ago, was involved in building a number of superyachts. Its Tor Marine division manages the new-build and repair work in the large shipyard in Tuzla.
Tor Marine was associated with the build of five superyachts between 1992 and 2004 from 26m-50m (85ft-164ft). This included three yachts for Nereids Yachts. On the repair side, the company has carried out work on the 136m (447ft) Savarona, the presidential yacht of Turkey.
