IPS Structural Adhesives in the US has announced a price increase of 5-7 per cent on its WELD-ON Structural Series methacrylate adhesive products in all package sizes. The rise is effective for all domestic and international orders shipped on or after July 1, 2008.

"We have invested significant resources to develop and manufacture state-of-the-art methacrylate adhesive products and absorbed numerous cost increases for a number of years without revising our pricing," says president John Reeves. "While we continue to tightly control manufacturing and other operating costs, the significant strain from rising raw material prices along with increased costs for environmental compliance, energy, labour and freight leaves us no alternative to offsetting some of these costs."

"IPS continues to invest in its business with significant capacity increases and other capital investments at our Durham, North Carolina manufacturing site, in order to drive productivity and ensure consistent product quality," Reeves continues.

As of July 1, the price of adhesive components in 50-gallon drums and five-gallon pails will increase by five per cent, as will the price of all 50ml, 400ml and 490ml cartridges. Five-gallon pails of activator components will rise by seven per cent in price.

A division of IPS Corporation in the US, IPS Structure Adhesives sells high-performance product-assembly adhesives to manufacturers in the industrial, transportation and marine markets. These two-component, toughened methacrylate adhesives are available with working times of 5-90 minutes.
