Lowrance South Africa has confirmed a new agency agreement with US-based Power-Pole shallow water anchors. The hydraulic anchors can be controlled wirelessly and link via Bluetooth to a Lowrance unit.
Lowrance SA managing director Lisbeth Plotz said the product is likely to appeal primarily to South Africa’s recreational fishing sector, particularly bass anglers. “Almost every single boat in the States has it – now we can sell it here in SA,” Plotz told IBI.
Plotz said bass fishing is a growth market for Lowrance SA, amidst a generally tepid local business environment. Another current growth market is the jetski and kayak segment.
The high-tech Power-Pole system relies on a “hinged, lightweight metal arm that extends down and away from a boat’s transom,” the company said in a post on its Facebook site.
“A hydraulic pump drives the integrated fibreglass spike into the bottom to hold the boat in place. The spike can hold place in any kind of bottom, and it is also gentle on the environment.
“All Power-Pole functions can be accessed directly from your Lowrance screen. There is also the option to purchase an additional wireless footpad switch kit,” the company said.
Lowrance SA, the market leader in marine and fishing electronics, is the licensed agent for several other leading brands including OceanLED, Navionics and Water Wolf.
