Italian start-up company Marinanow has completed two rounds of funding, raising €1.2m to allow it to expand its activities. The online portal for berth and boat bookings in the Mediterranean raised convertible notes for €700,000 and a new equity round for a further €500,000.

The founders – incubator The Net Value and the Fund United Ventures One – are now joined by IT firm Abinsula, as well as various private investors.

“The new injection of capital will help us further develop Marinanow with a focus towards the SaaS platform aimed at the business side of the market, as well as consolidating our position in the Mediterranean where we are already working with 500 of the 1,300 marinas and 9,000 boats – both sailboats and motorboats,” says Marinanow co-founder and CEO Alessandro Sestini.

“In 2016 we managed over 10,000 requests on the platform and this was a strong signal for us to further invest in automating the booking process as well as investing in marketing, sales and promotions for the 2017 season,” he adds.

In the past year, Marinanow has signed important agreements with marina chains ACI Marinas Croatia and Marinedi, as well as with ancillary services like Navionics, Nautica Italiana and ANSEuropa.

Marinanow Manager is a management software, also available as an app for iOS and Android, that lets charter companies and marinas receive booking requests online through the Marinanow marketplace, as well as directly from their own sites using a Marinanow booking widget integrated on their site

The company has also introduced Marinanow Agent, a site dedicated to travel agencies, service agencies, tour operators and hotel concierges that want to book boats, yachts, RIBs or sea excursions for their clients.

Founded in 2012 in Sardinia by Alessandro Sestini, Paolo Codina and Andrea Corvaglia, Marinanow is an online platform for finding and booking boats and berths throughout the Med. It allows users to check the availability of a berth and compare prices directly from a PC, tablet or smartphone in over 1,300 marinas (of which 500 are officially affiliated).

Users can also find a boat to rent with a few clicks of a mouse from a database of over 9,000 boats in the Mediterranean, with a huge choice of sailboats, motorboats, catamarans and RIBs with or without crew.
