Gosport, UK-based Marina Projects Ltd has expanded its marina operations activities by winning a contract to manage the 300-berth marina in Newhaven, the Sussex port to the east of Brighton. The contract starts this week and extends for an undisclosed period.
Geoff Phillips, executive chairman of Marina Projects Ltd, says: “I am delighted that Marina Projects will be operating Newhaven Marina and together with my colleagues and marina staff look forward to meeting all the berth holders and commercial tenants as we prepare for the year ahead.” This will be used to help assess what improvements may be made.
Marina Projects won the new contract following discussions with the marina owners. The marina has moorings for up to 300 craft from 7.5m-15.5m (25ft-51ft) on pontoons between individual finger piers. All moorings have electricity and water, and a fuel pontoon lies 150m north of the marina entrance. The marina complex includes a well-stocked chandlery, a food and provisions store, public telephone and two toilet and shower blocks.
In addition, the marina offers a range of services which includes engineering and workshop, a 12-tonne hoist and ashore boat storage, drying piles and grid, slipway launching, and ample free parking.
