Marlink said it has signed an agreement to acquire 100% of Livewire Connections. Financial terms were not disclosed but a statement said the transaction is expected to close in the coming weeks. The move follows Marlink’s recent announcement that it intends to acquire a majority stake in the Spanish superyacht service provider OmniAccess.

“Livewire Connections has consistently demonstrated to be at the forefront of satcom service provision for superyacht customers in Europe and the US, so we are delighted to have them on board as part of the Marlink Group,” said Erik Ceuppens, CEO of the Marlink Group in the statement. “Just like OmniAccess, Livewire Connections is focused on leveraging cutting-edge technology, innovation and service excellence. Together they will make a great fit.” The company’s goal is to create the leading maritime VSAT company in the superyacht segment.

Marlink expects annual sales to be about US$500m and to employ about 1,000 experts around the world following the acquisition. The company will also have around 5,000 VSAT vessels under contract. Marlink already has a presence in the shipping, offshore, cruise and ferry segments.

Livewire Connections is based in Chessington, Surrey, with an office in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. It has been in business since 2004. It offers satellite and terrestrial communications services and hardware, while providing custom IT and networking installations in the superyacht sector.
