The faculty of architecture at central Italy's university of Florence has launched a masters in interior and product design for the leisure marine industry.

The new course will offer students and professionals the chance to gain skills in yacht interior design, with a particular emphasis on the integration of new and traditional materials.

Students on the course will work closely with shipyards as well as furniture companies and artisans, with the possibility of joining firms as apprentices.

The deadline for course applications is November 21, 2008. Teaching will start on January 23, 2009. Lessons will run on Fridays and Saturdays, allowing those already employed the possibility of attending.
