The Miami Commission has approved plans for the Miami Marine Stadium site, which will be home to next year’s Miami International Boat Show.

The Miami Herald reported late last week that the Commission rejected an appeal by the Village of Key Biscayne and environmental groups to build an US$18m park and event space on the grounds of the Miami Marine Stadium. The decision will allow the city of Miami to move forward with construction of the outdoor facility, which includes paving over grounds for a parking lot and installing utilities for the boat show.

The NMMA said that construction has already begun and many exhibitors have had spaces allocated.
