The Miami International Boat Show, which opens tomorrow at the Miami Marine Stadium Park & Basin, holds special importance for two UK yachting businesses. These are Fairline Boats, which is making its international show comeback after the brand’s short trip into administration, and WOW Yachts, which is making its debut and launching a new series of yachts.

Fairline’s Florida dealer, G Marine, will be showing two Fairline models – the 48 Targa Open and the 53 Targa – at Miami. In a statement, G Marine said that Fairline is “re-evaluating the market, and planning its focus for the coming years as yachting styles evolve.

Fairline’s marketing manager Miles Moorhouse says Fairline has extremely well-designed, engineered and built yachts that are timeless in style. "South Florida is among the largest leisure boat markets and we are keen to continue the long-term relationship with G Marine in Miami,” he says. “Our dealer network is a key strength for Fairline, and G Marine is one of the 'crown jewels'. We appreciate the company's experience and input as we focus on developing new and exciting models to the highest standards, as our customers expect and deserve."

As for WOW Yachts, the company will launch on February 13, 2016 at a gala event at Sunset Harbor Yacht Club. This will be an event shared with UK Trade & Investment, Show Management, Motiv8 Events and Brit Week.

At the gala, Claudia Potamkin, a yacht owner for 30 years, and long-time superyacht captain Sandra Yawn will launch the new series of WOW yacht models.

In a statement, WOW says: “As captain and owner, the two have combined their knowledge and experience to forge a bond between technological excellence, luxury features, ease of ownership and a built-in philanthropic upside. Powered by passion and driven by desire, the new brand will be offered in three sizes with several options in colour and design.”

"This 47ft yacht has a top speed of 40kt and features the latest technology,” says Sandra Yacht, who has 27 years’ experience as a superyacht captain. “With a simple push or twist of the joystick any person can easily operate this extraordinary vessel. With the purchase of our yachts we will offer one-on-one training and tutor you in the online boating safety course offered by your flag state."

The sizes of the other two models in the range are not mentioned in the statement, but both were designed by Ward Setzer at Setzer Yacht Architects.

"A strong component of the brand focuses on ocean advocacy and research," says Yawn. "WOW Yachts and ownership will enable the yachts to become 'Vessels of Discovery' with International SeaKeepers Society. As 'Vessels of Discovery,' WOW yacht owners will have the opportunity to join the non-profit SeaKeepers on various missions of their choosing and frequency, and enjoy all of the benefits therein."
