UK diesel engine specialist Cox Powertrain presented its new CXO300 outboard to the superyacht market at the Monaco Yacht Show today alongside its Italian distributor Cartello Srl.

Cartello was recently chosen by Cox Powertrain to exclusively manage its sales, service and distribution in Italy and Monaco. With a significant aftersales service network throughout the region, the company offers support to its superyacht customers in the southern Mediterranean region.

A full-size model of the CXO300 is currently on display at the Monaco show, giving a sneak preview of the advanced engine layout. Visitors were also given a first look at the recently announced controls and display systems that were chosen for the high-performance engine.

The CXO300 is said to be the highest power density diesel outboard engine ever developed. With petrol now not permitted on an increasing number of superyachts, the introduction of a viable diesel outboard that offers a comparable power and weight of a gasoline engine makes it a “game-changer” for the superyacht industry, Cox Powertrain claims.

Italian company Xenta Systems was chosen to supply the engine controls system, which incorporates the joystick and throttle. As the first company to develop and patent the intuitive joystick control system, Xenta works closely with retrofit and OEM production markets to offer a fully integrated engine control package.  The system provides seamless manoeuvrability of craft in close quarters, says Cox Powertrain.

Murphy by Enovation Controls will supply its new PowerView1200 display screen, offering full-featured engine diagnostics on a powerful display. As Murphy’s largest engine display system, the new PowerView1200 was chosen for its power, large memory and excellent connectivity.

The full-size model of the CXO300 diesel outboard engine can be seen on Stand TT19 at the Monaco show. It is scheduled to launch in the second half of 2018.
