Newport Exhibition Group, owner and producer of the Newport International Boat Show, has named Sail To Prevail is its official charitable partner for the 2017 event in September.

“We are delighted to welcome Sail To Prevail to the Newport International Boat Show as our charitable partner for 2017,” says Nancy Piffard, show director, Newport Exhibition Group. “The members of the Sail To Prevail team are remarkable individuals that use the sport of sailing to truly change the lives of their participants. This partnership gives us an amazing opportunity to support a wonderful organisation and help to promote its mission.”

Sail To Prevail creates opportunities for disabled children and adults to overcome adversity through therapeutic sailing. Proud of over 30 years of service, the organisation has served more than 19,000 disabled individuals across the US with primary locations in Nantucket and Cambridge, Massachusetts and Newport, Rhode Island.

In the Newport branch, each summer approximately 1,000 people with disabilities learn the skills of sailing in a fleet of uniquely adapted, 20ft sailboats. The programs offered strongly encourage disabled individuals to be active participants by steering the boat and trimming sails.

The 47th Newport International Boat Show will be held from September 14-17, 2017 on the Newport waterfront along America’s Cup Ave in Newport, Rhode Island. It is one of the largest in-water shows in the country and the kick-off to the boat show season.
