The National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) said it plans to hold a special dinner before the METSTRADE Show on Monday, November 13 in Amsterdam to address Brexit and VAT issues. The dinner is for members of the USA Pavilion and will feature expert speakers from KPMG in Amsterdam.
“These are timely issues that can have a big impact on our member companies,” Julie Balzano, NMMA’s Senior Director of Export Development, told IBI. “It will give our exhibitors a chance to learn more about Brexit and how they can leverage changes coming down the pipeline. The VAT issue is critical for US companies with customers in Europe.”
The speakers include Robert van der Jagt, a specialist on EU law, Brexit and tax aspects of cross-border employment. Van der Jagt is chairperson of KPMG’s EU Tax Centre. The second speaker, Paul Zijlstra, is a tax advisor and VAT specialist. He advises both European and international businesses. Among his specialties is the yachting industry. Other fields of experience include international trade, internet companies, real estate transactions and business structuring.
“A lot of companies go to international trade shows, but they underestimate the importance of preparing for issues that make impact them internationally,” said Balzano. “This gives them a chance to understand issues that will impact them directly.”
