Joseph Sgro, president of Outerlimits in Bristol, Rhode Island, died on November 9 after sustaining injuries in a boating accident in the Florida Keys. Sgro, 63, was participating in a poker run in the Florida Keys when his high performance boat turned over. Speedonthewater.com reported that Sgro was airlifted from the Keys to a Miami-area hospital but during the flight his conditioned worsened. He died after being taken to a hospital in Marathon, Florida.

“The entire Outerlimits family is devastated by the loss of our friend and colleague and we wish to express our deepest condolences to his entire family,” said a statement from the company’s attorney. “Anyone who knew Joe loved him. His larger-than-life personality and his generosity to his family and friends was unparalleled.

Sgro purchased the company from the Fiore family in 2015 after its founder, Mike Fiore, died in a similar boat crash in Missouri a year earlier.
