Palumbo Superyachts, the yachting division of Italy’s Palumbo Group, has announced the sale of a new 50m Columbus motoryacht.

Construction of the Columbus S 50 is due to begin soon at the yard’s facilities in Ancona, Italy and is scheduled for delivery in summer 2020. Its new owner already has a motoryacht built by the group.

Designed by Luca Dini, the Columbus S 50 will have an aluminium hull and superstructure. It will be 49.m in length with a beam of 9.15m and a gross tonnage of 499 GT (under the 500 GT threshold).

The Columbus S 50 will be equipped wtih two 2000hp MTU engines for a top speed of 20kt in semi-displacement mode, a cruising speed of 15kt and a transoceanic range.

Designer Luca Dini worked in close cooperation with Palumbo Superyachts’ engineering department to build a model that accurately meets the needs of the owner.

Columbus Yachts is the superyacht division of the Palumbo Group, which operates commercial ship repair facilities in Italy, Malta and the Canary Islands. The group bought the former ISA facility in Ancona, Italy in 2016.
