The municipal authorities of Ustka in Poland have intensified efforts to acquire funds for a new marina investment, estimated to be worth some PLN 46m (US$12.2m), which is to provide berthing for 100 yachts on the shores of the Polish Baltic Sea.
The city is currently developing two marinas, with a smaller facility designed to provide 26 berths for craft with a length of up to 12m (40ft) in the western part of the port of Ustka.
Under the plan, the new facility will be completed in 2017. To acquire funds for the investment, which is to be co-financed up to 85% by funds obtained by Poland from the European Union, the municipal authorities of Ustka recently met with representatives of Polish ministries. These included the Ministry of Infrastructure and Development and the Ministry of Interior, to whom Mayor of Ustka Jacek Graczyk presented the project design, reports local news site Portalmorski.pl.
To cover the remaining share of the investment, which translates to about PLN 7m (US$1.9m), the city is currently seeking a private investor that would enable the construction of a hotel in close proximity of the planned marina.
