Poland’s yacht registrations were down 6% this year to a total of 1,366 craft, but local industry representatives say the luxury segment of the market, comprising yachts with a price tag of more than €200,000, is expected to continue its growth by 10% per year.
Last year, about 1,123 new motoryachts and 243 sailing yachts were registered in Poland, according to data published by local consultancy firm KPMG Polska in its market report.
"We have observed a high growth dynamic for luxury yachts which means yachts that cost more than €200,000. We estimate that the entire sector expands by about 10% per year, and this trend should be maintained in the next three years," said Sebastian Nietupski, the president of the Warsaw-based industry association Polish Chamber of Marine Industry and Water Sports (POLBOAT).
The consultancy says there are close to 1,000 companies active in the country’s boatbuilding sector, but more than 95% of the Polish industry’s output is intended for foreign markets. These include Western Europe, as well as countries in North America, Asia, Australia, and the Middle East.
