Porto Montenegro has become the world’s first and only marina to receive the TYHA Platinum Marina award.
Launched last year by The Yacht Harbour Association (TYHA) and the Marine Industry Association (MIA) of Australia, joint operators of the Gold Anchor award scheme, the new Platinum accreditation is designed to recognise the world’s finest superyacht marinas.
According to a statement, Porto Montenegro was given the TYHA Platinum Marina award for its 460-yacht marina capacity, waterfront residences, retail village, five-star hotel, restaurants and nearby airport, as well as its “unparalleled levels of customer service”.
“The level of refinement at Porto Montenegro included on jetty air-conditioned waste facilities to prevent odours, on-site fire brigade team, state-of-the-art fuel service and high levels of environmental management,” says Gold Anchor assessor Tony Dye. “The concierge team are active 24 hours and the crew facility provisions exceeded expectations, especially with regard to leisure time.”
Upon receiving the award, Porto Montenegro’s marina director, Tony Browne, said: “When launching Porto Montenegro back in 2010, we had a bold vision to become the world’s leading superyacht marina. In re-writing the rulebook for product and service standards we have sought inspiration both from within and without our own industry to prove that a new-build marina in the Adriatic can match and indeed better what is on offer in the western Med.
Located in Tivat, Porto Montenegro has 460 berths, 220 luxury apartments and over 50 units of ground floor retail made up of restaurants, bars, cafes, shops and amenities. It also has a five-star Regent Hotel with over 80 luxury suites and apartments.
In 2017, Porto Montenegro received a Superyacht Marina of Distinction award and 5 Golden Anchors from The Yacht Harbour Association for the high-quality facilities and services provided.
