RBS Marine, the official Rodman distributor for the UK and Channel Islands, is to begin selling Kingfisher catamarans in Britain.
Kingfisher produces a range of Minicats from 3.7m-5.1m and Powercats from 6.2m-15m – all in aluminium. They are built in the UK by PDL Fabrications of Portsmouth.
Birdham, West Sussex-based RBS says it will be bringing the Minicat 450, Powercat 670 and the Kingfisher 10m Catamaran to the 2017 Southampton Boat Show next month.
The Minicats and Powercats up to 6.7m are all outboard-powered and RBS Marine has chosen Suzuki Outboards for their first units, although other engine options are available. Unlike many other powered catamarans, the Minicats are driven by single outboards mounted between the two hulls.
The Kingfisher 620 and 670 Powercats are driven by twin outboards, and the Kingfisher 10m Catamaran has twin inboard diesel engines.
“We’ve been looking for a great quality entry level boat for some time, and we’ve been seriously impressed by the design of Kingfisher Catamarans and workmanship by PDL Fabrications,” says Ben Stevens, managing director at RBS Marine.
“We pride ourselves on our reputation for quality and strength of build that we have gained through our longstanding relationship with Rodman Polyships, and it was essential for us that any new brand supported this ethos completely. We just know that these boats will be well received by the UK leisure and commercial markets alike and we can’t wait to show off these exciting new boats.”
RBS Marine says it has already received interest in the Kingfisher range from both leisure and commercial customers, with three boats already on order.
