Italian superyacht builder Sanlorenzo has named Luigi Adamo as sales director of its Yacht Division.

Based in the Ameglia and Viareggio shipyards, the division handles the design, construction and sales of fibreglass motoryachts from 24m-38m in length.

There are three model ranges within the portfolio – SL flybridge yachts with planing hulls, SD (semi-displacement) yachts, and the new crossover SX line, the first of which (the SX88) will debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival next month.

A qualified naval architect and mechanical engineer with over 20 years’ experience in the yachting industry, Adamo joins the company from Hong Kong-based Benetti Asia, where he worked as general manager.

Previous roles include service manager and later product & project manager at Azimut-Benetti Group, as well as sales manager for MegaYacht Benetti.

Sanlorenzo operates from three different production sites within 50km from each other – the Yacht Division in Ameglia and Viareggio, and the new site of the Superyacht Division in La Spezia, which is dedicated to the construction of superyachts in metal from 40m-80m in length.

Total turnover for Sanlorenzo reached €314m in 2016, up 42% compared to the €220m generated in 2015. EBITDA was €25.4m, 21% more than 2015, thanks to the production of 28 yachts and five superyachts sold in 2016.
