A significant change in executive leadership in the Asian superyacht brokerage sector has occurred with the move of Bart Kimman, formerly head of Northrop & Johnson Asia, to Camper & Nicholsons Asia (CNA), where he will hold the position of commercial director.
Kimman has been at the forefront of developing the Asian superyacht market for well over two decades and, following the takeover of his company by N&J, he built up a regional network for the US brokerage house.
CNA describes Kimman’s appointment as a “major step forward in the restructuring of Camper & Nicholsons Asia and implementing the company’s strategic plans”. Following a recent expansion of the sales and charter teams, he will spearhead the company’s strategic growth in the Asian market, working in close cooperation with CNA managing director Carmen Lau.
“We are very pleased to have Bart join Camper & Nicholsons Asia to unveil a new chapter in the Asian yachting market,” says Lau. “We needed an individual who is strategically-minded, forward thinking, with extensive personal and professional experience in yachting, particularly in our region. In Bart, we have found someone who will form an integral part of our dynamic new executive team and help us realise the full potential of Camper & Nicholsons in this crucial market.”
According to Kimman, the superyacht market in Asia is growing fast and the number of superyachts visiting Phuket has increased significantly. “Establishing an office in Thailand will help us to further expand our presence in the region,” he says.
A MYBA member and fully qualified yacht broker, Kimman specialises in the superyacht brokerage of both large sailing superyachts and motoryachts. He is also the exclusive Asia Pacific representative for the Royal Huisman Shipyard, which is currently building its second sailing superyacht for the Asian market.
Kimman will lead the yacht sales and charter team of CNA with decades of global yacht brokerage experience and the most successful charter brokerage in Asia for consecutive years on record.
Alongside the company’s ambitious recruitment plans, CNA will continue to invest in infrastructure and operations, which began with the opening of a new office in Phuket.
