Tidewater Boats is investing US$8.3m in a new facility that should create 100 new jobs. The company, founded in 2006, is based in Lexington County, South Carolina. It had five models 10 years ago, but now builds 24 models from 17ft-32ft.

Tidewater says in a statement that it is currently designing larger models. The company will be constructing a new satellite facility in Lexington for those boats. The site will allow for more streamlined production, while also freeing up space at Tidewater’s original facility for expanded production.

“Our mission is to build a boat that is of great value,” says Chris Martin, Tidewater general manager, in the statement. “We accomplish this by utilising historically-skilled South Carolina craftsmen, the most advanced composite materials available and a classic, distinctive design.”
