The new owners of the Ottawa Boat Show are said to be pleased with the results of this year’s event, which ran from February 22-25 at the massive EY Centre near the Ottawa airport.
The largest consumer boating event held in Canada’s national capital region, the 2018 Ottawa Boat Show attracted more than 9,000 visitors, who enjoyed the opportunity to see nearly 300 boats on display along with an extensive range of marine parts and accessories.
Attendance jumped noticeably on the weekend as sub-zero temperatures gave way to a patch of milder weather with temperatures in the range of 5 degrees C.
Although 2018 marked the show’s 43rd anniversary, it was the first year of operation by new owner Master Promotions, which acquired the event from former owners Canadian National Sportsmen’s Shows last summer. “We heard from exhibitors and visitors alike that this year’s show was a hit,” says show manager Scott Sprague. “It was our first year here, so having that sort of feedback is extremely gratifying.”
Based in Halifax, Master Promotions is Canada’s largest independent trade and consumer event management company, operating more than 30 consumer and trade events including the Halifax International Boat Show, the Moncton Boat Show and the BC Sportsmen’s Show.
“On the whole we’re pleased with the way the Ottawa show ran,” says Sprague. “We’re looking forward to working with the exhibitors and reviewing visitor feedback to make next year’s even better.”
