After a very good Swedish summer, the 19th Open Yards boat show on the island of Orust saw a record numbers of visitors as well as exhibited boats. This year’s show, which ran from August 22-24, was based in two locations – Ellös and Henån, with the highest number of visitors recorded on the Saturday. In total around 20,000 people attended the event.

“We’re very pleased with the show,” says Patric Borén, project manager at Swedish marine industries federation Sweboat. “There was good exhibition weather, a fully booked show and a good mood to buy boats among the many visitors. We had reports of contracts signed at the show, for instance from Najad who sold a 57-footer.

“Most visitors came to Ellös, where Hallberg-Rassy have their base,” he said. “This is the biggest harbour at Open Yards, but also Henån with Najad, Bavaria and several other important exhibitors, which had more visitors than in recent years.”

A record 130 boats and associated equipment were on display this year. Some boats, such as the new Dehler 38 and Bavaria Sport 32, had their Swedish premieres.
