The Road Town, Tortola (British Virgin Islands) base for yacht charter operators, Sunsail and The Moorings, has just been reopened

These two leading players in this niche tourist sector, have more than 100 yachts available for the winter high season and by early 2018 another 130 boats will be delivered. The latter represent an investment of US$66.5m.

Commenting on the opening Josie Tucci, vice president of Sale & Marketing, said: “The road to recovery has not been easy, but we are thrilled about reopening our base in the BVI and in a timely manner. The humanitarian response from customers, partners and employees following the hurricanes was overwhelming, and the tenacity of the local communities has been nothing short of inspiring. This heartfelt combination of commitment and resilience helped us come back so strong."

As part of the recovery initiatives The Moorings and Sunsail established a Caribbean Comeback fundraiser.  All the money received through this has been used to buy supplies such as generators and gas stoves which are still required in BVI, Puerto Rico and St. Maarten/St. Martin.
