Excel Boat Company, which has a facility in Arkansas, says it plans to start a new facility in Ridgely, Tennessee. The bass and saltwater fishing aluminium boat builder will invest US$9m over the next five years into the facility, while also creating 200 jobs.

The new facility will be 100,000sq ft, with manufacturing, offices, showroom and visitor area. It is expected to be operational by the second quarter of 2019. The company said it will start hiring in the third quarter of 2018.

Excel will manufacture new lines of hunting, fishing and recreational boats. It will also manufacture boat trailers, wiring harnesses, upholstery, bracing and other boating products for its dealership network.

“By establishing operations in Ridgely, we have a chance to make a huge difference in a community that truly wants us and deserves this Excel Boats manufacturing plant,” said CEO Glenn Foreman in the statement.
