Van der Velden Marine Systems in the Netherlands has appointed a new executive vice president.
Paul van Maanen has spent many years as a managing director in the shipbuilding and aircraft industries. He joins the company’s four-man Corporate Executive Board, sharing responsibility for the overall operation and management of the entire Van der Velden group of companies.
Van Maanen recently spent a seven-year stint as managing director of the GEA Group AG in Berlin, where he was responsible for the International Solutions and Services Business unit. Between 2000 and 2003, he was on the Board of Driessen Aerospace Group as president of the Galley Division.
Van Maanen started his career as area sales manager at Stork (industrial products & services). In 1993 he moved to Shipyard Peters in Kampen, where he worked as vice president and CEO.
Van der Velden Marine Systems has been equipping vessels, ships and yachts with marine manoeuvring systems for almost 50 years. The company operates in three main sectors — inland shipping, ocean going vessels and yachting — and employs some 115 people globally.
