Six boats valued from US$40,000 and US$70,000 have been stolen from a Florida boat storage, five since late May, and despite surveillance video of the crimes, no arrests have been made.
Surveillance video from Sunshine Storage in Miramar, Florida, showed a white, 4-door, Ford F-250 pickup towing a boat from the yard May 20, and another boat on June 9. On May 30 and again on June 19, a silver-gray Infiniti SUV was seen towing two other boats out of the storage yard, and on June 19, surveillance video showed a black Chevy Tahoe SUV towing a boat out of the storage yard. There was no video or vehicle description for the sixth stolen boat, according to police reports.
One boat was recovered abandoned on June 11, stripped of its engines, stereo system and other components, investigators told the Sun Sentinel newspaper.
How the thieves gained access to the facility isn’t known, but an assistant manager said Sunshine Storage has security gates that require access codes to gain entry.
Police are offering a reward of up to US$3,000 for information leading to arrest and conviction of the suspects.
