Two of the biggest players in the yacht uniform industry – Dolphin Wear and Deckers Uniforms – have merged after decades of competition.
The new company, Dolphin Wear & Deckers (DWD), has combined showrooms in Antibes, Barcelona and Palma de Mallorca, as well as production facilities and warehousing in both France and Spain. The Barcelona facility both inside and outside of MB92 shipyard is ideally located to support all requirements both in and out of season.
“We were all in agreement many years ago that we would be able to offer a much better service with far more benefits to our clients if we were able to come together, and we were not the only ones. Clients and friends in the industry voiced the same opinion on many occasions,” says David Ireland of Deckers Uniforms.
Patrick Gilliot of Dolphin Wear adds: “Already the two companies are working together as if we had been one team all along which proves for us this was the right move at exactly the right time. As yachts get larger so do their demands and needs, therefore what we have created is the answer to the future requirements of our industry.”
Benefits of the merger include reduced lead times, a bigger stock pool for fulfilling orders, and stronger negotiation with suppliers, leading to more competitive pricing for clients.
A dedicated Key Accounts and New Build/Refit Department also has a mobile team who travel throughout European yards and further afield when required.
