Skeeter Boats has launched a new boat trailer factory. The Yamaha-owned boatbuilder says it will add up to 35 new employees at its 43,000sq ft trailer facility in Kilgore, Texas. It will supply all trailers to Skeeter boat production by the third quarter of this year.

“The expansion into the boat trailer category was another step with our overall focus on the vertical integration aspects of our business,” said Jeff Stone, senior vice president of Skeeter Boats, in a statement. “It is a natural fit for us to build custom-designed trailers for our Bass, Bay and Deep V boats. With the addition of Skeeter Built Trailers, we are now positioned as an industry leader in delivering the total boat/trailer package to our customers.”

The company said its trailer production would match its boat production so both products are completed at the same time. All 2018 Skeeter Bass and DV models will have a Skeeter Built trailer from the new Skeeter facility, while its Bay boat aluminium trailers will be transitioned in the next 12 months. Skeeter will use in-house designers for customisation techniques. The trailers will also offer an limited-lifetime frame warranty, which sets a new standard in the boating business.
