Superyacht brokerage Yachting Partners International (YPI) has extended its global office network through a strategic partnership with Trader Marine Yacht Services Ltd in Malta.

Trader Marine has been operating in Malta since 1991 and is active in new-build and pre-owned yacht brokerage, new yacht sales, yacht charter, marina consultancy and agency services. Led by Edward Woods, the company claims to be the region’s largest new and used boat sales centre.

“This partnership will bring significant benefits to YPI clients through preferential rates and purchase opportunities on marina deals that arise throughout Malta, as the country undergoes significant transformation and inward investment with a primary focus on the marine industry,” says YPI.

Through this partnership, YPI can offer attractive leasing options, including berths in Manoel Island Marina, which has the capacity to accommodate yachts up to 100m (328ft). YPI clients will also benefit from exclusive discounted rates on service, maintenance and refits at Palumbo Malta Superyachts Ltd, which is one of the largest facilities of its type in the Mediterranean.

Wood, as a leading player in the Malta superyacht sector, contributed to the development of the Grand Harbour Marina and also sits on the board of several marine projects currently under discussion. Trader Marine is the official Maltese agent for several marine brands including Riva from Italy, Heysea from China and UK builder Fairline. The new partnership empowers YPI to offer our clients competitive purchase deals on these yacht brands.

From a charter perspective, YPI will benefit from in-depth, up-to-date insight into VAT rates and itineraries starting and/or finishing in Malta. Although not yet a major charter destination, Malta offers spectacular diving with caves and wrecks in Gozo, and a fascinating history for on-land exploration.

With the growing importance of Malta as a registration location, leasing base and refit centre, a number of international brokers have established links with the island. Superyacht Industry Network Malta represents a number companies in the large yacht sector.
