Andy Roy, a principal of Baker Tilly Isle of Man and director of Bennett Roy Maritime, has been appointed chairman of the Isle of Man Yacht Forum in the UK.

Having been involved in the yachting industry for over 30 years, Roy brings considerable experience to his new role.

“Andy has served Forum well for several years, mostly unsung in the background, especially in relation to the thorny subjects of tax and VAT,” says outgoing chairman Rob Tobin, who remains on the Forum’s committee.

“I am sure that in his new, higher profile role as chairman, he will he will drive the yachting industry on the Isle of Man on to greater things.”

Roy has written and spoken extensively at seminars on the areas of concern to the yachting industry, especially VAT, and is one of the authors of the Superyacht Operations Diploma training course. He is a chartered accountant by profession and has been a sailor all his life.

Founded in 2004, the Isle of Man Yacht Forum works to promote local companies that are active within the superyacht industry.
