Norwegian boatbuilder Hydrolift has received an Award for Design Excellence at an annual Design Day event organized by the Norwegian Design Council to recognise innovation and great design.
The prestigious Award for Design Excellence rewards the most innovative and courageous companies and designers working together to create products and services through the methodical use of design.
Hydrolift was presented the Award today at the event in Oslo for its innovative S-28 boat built as an open walkaround that works equally well in sunshine as in bad weather.
"The idea behind the S-28 was to create an 'all weather boat' without compromising with our image as a manufacturer of open sports boats in the premium segment," says the company owner and designer Bard Eker. Hydrolift has together with its sister company Eker Design developed a boat "full of practical solutions that lower the threshold for taking a trip out on the ocean."
The fully electrical sprayhood is completely hidden so as to not destroy the boat's visual appeal, but if the weather turns cover will be provided at the push of a button. "The cabin is practical and discreet, with modular seats and benches. The patented D-fender system along the hull sides prevents the possibility of damages to the hull at the same time as the solution blends in with the design of the boat."
