Stockholm-based Pampas Marina AB has signed a deal to buy one of Huges Marina’s dealer points owned by Gillesviks estates in Västervik.

Huges Marina is Sweden’s largest marine dealer network chain, owned by Gillesvik and LF Insurance. Huges will continue renting a space in the marina, focusing on boat sales.

The new owner is planning to build a restaurant in the area as well as extend the service to customers in Västervik, located on the Swedish east coast and a place well visited by boat owners.

The marina will change its name to Pampas Marina Västervik AB and all staff will remain with the new company.

“We’re planning to open a restaurant and a shop and offer more marine companies facilities in Västervik,” says Anders Johansson, managing director of Pampas Marina AB and the Pampas Group.

Other companies in the marina include spare part specialist Mekonomen AB through its subsidiary Marinshopen, which specialises in selling engine and other boat parts. The petrol station will be rented out to a local entrepreneur.

“Huges looks very positively on the cooperation with Pampas,” says Matts Kastengren, manager of the board at Huges Marina. “They will develop the marina while we can focus on boat sales.”
