The British Marine Federation (BMF) has named Howard Pridding as Chief Executive Officer, replacing Rob Stevens from 1 October 2012.

With extensive knowledge of the marine industry Pridding, currently Executive Director of the federation, was appointed to the new role following an externally-run recruitment process.

A statement released by the BMF reads: "Howard is well qualified to help the industry through the current financial difficulties and will continue the progress of positioning the BMF as one the most influential trade associations in the country. In his new role Howard will oversee both the work of the Federation and its two world-renowned boat shows in the Tullett Prebon London Boat Show and PSP Southampton Boat Show, where his many years of working with hundreds of members on commercial and reputational matters will be invaluable."

The BMF's Management Board has also announced that it has decided to consolidate the existing positions of Executive Director and Chief Executive. This structural change, it says, complements last year’s restructuring, helping to reduce the federation's running costs further.
