Canadian electric motor manufacturer says inboard version of E-Motion 180e propulsion motor to be unveiled at IBEX
Montreal, Canada-based Vision Marine Technologies has announced E-Motion 180 horsepower electric outboard will now be offered in an inboard version.
The new E-Motion 180e inboard electric motor system is said to open an important new market segment for Vision Marine, significantly expanding the range of vessels potentially compatible with its electric propulsion technology.

The new motor incorporates 95% of the same components used in its E-Motion outboard, benefitting from “the proven reliability and consistent performance of the inboard system” according to the firm while lowering overall production costs.
A pre-production motor is said to have successfully completed sea trials. The company will officially unveil the new motor at the International BoatBuilders’ Exhibition and Conference (IBEX), to be held from October 1-3 at the Tampa Convention Centre.
“The E-Motion 180e inboard leverages the expertise we’ve built since 2015,” said Vision Marine Technologies CEO, Alexandre Mongeon. “The E-Motion 180e Inboard brings the same tested and proven technology to a broader range of vessels, reaffirming our commitment to advancing electric propulsion in the marine industry.”
