Cape Town-based sailboat maker Southern Wind Shipyard has launched hull #3 of its SW102 series. The new 31.7-metre vessel (SW 102#03), christened Farfalla, is the first model of the series featuring a raised saloon.

The launch took place on May 5th in Cape Town commercial harbour in the presence of the owner and his family, and follows the delivery of SW 82#02 Grande Orazio three month ago.

The interior of this sailing yacht follows Southern Wind Shipyard’s most popular layout, with the owner’s cabin forward, three guest cabins amid ship and crew quarters aft.

Farfalla will leave Cape Town at the end of June and will be available for charter from Summer 2014.

Founded by Italian entrepreneur Willy Persico in 1991, Southern Wind builds semi-custom composite sailing yachts from 22m-37m (72ft-121ft) at a 14,000sq m facility in Cape Town, South Africa.
