Ft Lauderdale-based Boatsetter.com has acquired Smart Charter Ibiza for undisclosed terms. This will be the second acquisition for Boatsetter.com, which bills itself as the “Airbnb of Boats,” in seven months.
The company said in a statement that Smart Charter Ibiza is the largest charter broker on the Spanish island. Boatsetter said the acquisition makes it one of the largest yacht charter operations in the Mediterranean.
“This purchase of Smart Charter Ibiza is Boatsetter’s first international acquisition and adds to its offerings a large fleet of top-end vessels in Ibiza, Formentera and Mallorca, now exclusively available to Boatsetter customers,” said a statement. The company said that Charlie Vale, former head of Smart Charter, will now become Boatsetter’s head of sales.
“Our vision of making boating accessible to everyone everywhere is being powerfully enhanced with this acquisition,” added Pablo Vidal, managing director of Boatsetter Europe, in the statement. “Boatsetter now brings an exclusive, world-class experience to our customers in Spain’s Balearic Islands, as we increase our expansion into the Mediterranean.”
