Global yacht coatings specialist manufacturer Alexseal has significantly increased the range of representative boats and yachts within its already widely adopted Color Configurator
IBI first reported on this innovative visualisation solution for shipyards, maintenance companies and end-users when the Color Configurator launched last year. It simulates how the many hues of Alexseal’s paint systems compare and contrast with each other on different facets and lighting states. Since then, it has been welcomed and widely adopted, as Thomas Schultz, Global Sales Director of Alexseal Yacht Coatings, explains: “Shortly after the 2025 launch, many of our customers were using the tool and even asked for more model variety. The highly positive feedback from users pushed us to considerably extend the Color Configurator and invest in its capabilities.”
Expansion of boat models available for paint visualisations
Until now, the five models available for use in the simulator (superyacht, small motor yacht, small sailing yacht, sportfish, and picnic boat) were manufacturer-independent generic designs. For this expansion, Alexseal partnered with well-known shipyards that provided accurate renditions of production models. Contest Yachts contributed the brand-new Contest 56CS to provide a larger sailing yacht. Boarnstream Yachting volunteered its Boarncruiser 1440 Elegance model to provide a representative Dutch motor yacht, a contemporary of many new motor yachts in the 12m-18m sector. The Two Oceans 555 power catamaran covers the need for having a model in the growing motor multihull sector. Finally a generic centre console model has been added to bring the total number of available simulated yacht styles up to nine.

Users of the Alexseal Color Configurator can now select which kind of design offers the closest match to the one they are considering from this large range of different models. Three zones are available for personalisation on each model: the hull, the superstructure, and the boot stripe. You can then also use the Color Configurator’s unique 3D design lens feature to view how the hues work together across different surface shapes and angles and in different light conditions.
Three new colours join Alexseal’s extensive palette
In addition to the existing solid and metallic shades already available from Alexseal, the enhanced configurator includes three new Alexseal shades based on the Colors of the Year 2026 from Mankiewicz, the company behind the Alexseal Yacht Coatings brand. These hues are Sour, a vivid yellow-green; Tree House, a rich brown; and Ice Water, a light blue-gray. This trio of colours reflects broader social developments and can be found clustered in their own group within the Color Configurator’s easily navigated set of controls.

Accessing the Alexseal Color Configurator
The Color Configurator is free to access. It is designed primarily to support yacht owners and the professionals who work with them as they evaluate how colours work and perform across a yacht’s geometry and large surface areas. It is an ideal complement to the smaller colour chips traditionally provided by coatings manufacturers. You can also download a PDF reminder of your colour choices directly from the visualisation window.
