New 15m motoryacht is equipped with twin IPS 600 drives. Each unit produces 435hp at a rated 3,500rpm.
Absolute Yachts has selected Volvo Penta’s new IPS 600 inboard IPS package to power its new 50Fly, a three-cabin motoryacht designed to combine functionality and comfort in a compact boat.
The Italian boatbuilder has chosen to equipped the boat with twin IPS-600 drives. Each unit produces 435hp at a rated 3,500rpm.
“We needed an engine that would provide the best performance for our yacht, while also offering low fuel consumption, reduced noise and vibration, and have a minimal ecological impact with low emissions,” explains Cesare Mastroianni, Absolute Yachts VP sales and chief commercial officer. “We have found the ideal propulsion drive with Volvo Penta’s IPS,” he adds.
The forward-facing twin counter-rotating propellers sit below the hull to operate in undisturbed water. As such they cause less drag and provide up to 30% better fuel consumption than a traditional inboard shaft engine, the manufacturer claims. The Stage III/Tier 3 IPS 600 also reduces particulate, NOx and hydrocarbon emissions.
Absolute Yachts has been designing and building boats for the leisure market since 2002 at its shipyard near Piacenza, not far from Milan.
Its portfolio comprises marine vessels ranging from 12m to 22m including the Flybridge series, Sport Yacht, Sport Line, and Navetta models. Absolute Yachts’ entire product line is powered by Volvo Penta IPS.
Volvo Penta IPS range is suitable for yachts, sport cruisers, sport-fishing and semi-planing boats up to 30m (100ft). All installations are equally easy to drive with standard controls, joystick and all ‘Easy Boating’ options available.
Optional Easy Boating components include the customizable Glass Cockpit controls, e-Key Remote, Joystick Inboard, and Battery Management System.
“Absolute Yachts has been a great customer of ours for many years, using different IPS drives in their yachts,” says Nicola Pomi, marine sales manager at Volvo Penta.
“We’re delighted they’ve chosen the IPS-600 as the best propulsion system for their new 50Fly yacht, and look forward to a continuing relationship.”
Volvo Penta will be attending the Sydney International Boat Show. The five-day event starts tomorrow.
The new 15m yacht accommodates up to six guests in its three cabins, while a fourth supplementary cabin can house an additional crew member.
The boat has a well-equipped galley, dining area and sunbathing deck. Glass sliding doors optimize the use of space and light. The flybridge hosts further touches to maximize convenience and onboard comfort. Amenities onboard include an ice-maker and fridge, sink and barbecue grill.
